When the child's biological mother asserted that she had been attempting to regain custody of Chloe for years, the couple retaliated.
In an interview with People on December 7th, Todd and Julie Chrisley refuted claims made by their daughter Chloe's biological mother Angela Johnson that she wants to regain custody of her.
The two, who were just recently given prison sentences for tax fraud, admitted that they were "saddened" by what Angela has said about the 10-year-old.
In response to Angela's allegations that she has been attempting to regain custody of her daughter, Todd and Julie as well as their attorney Jessica Doyle issued statements.
According to a statement from the couple, Todd and Julie are saddened by the unfortunate and false narrative that Chloe is currently the subject of in the media.
Angela gave birth to Chloe in 2012 with Kyle, Todd's son, but in 2016 she lost custody.
The child's birth mother told TMZ that she was currently filing some legal documents so that I could return to court to get Chloe back home.
She added that she wasn't sure which state their paperwork should be filed in because they both live in different states.
Chloe's legal parents through adoption, not just custody, are Todd and Julie Chrisley, according to Chloe.
I have reviewed Angela Johnson's public statements, and they are not even technically true or legitimate.
On March 24, 2017, Angela Johnson voluntarily gave up her parental rights to Todd and Julie Chrisley, ending her parental rights. I handled the official adoption of Chloe by Todd and Julie Chrisley.
She hasn't spoken to the youngster since 2015.
In a different podcast episode, Julie and Savannah discussed how Chloe was coping with her grandparents' prison sentence. They said that she frequently kept tabs on what was happening and that she was receiving therapy.
