Let’s go Ice-Skating in Santa Monica !

The city

This suburb of Los Angeles is highlighted by its lively, fun vibe, beaches, and convenient location for exploring all of LA.

Known as ‘Silicon Beach’, local businesses are at the forefront of the country’s creative industries and startup scene. Santa Monica is also home to well-known and respected medical facilities but also for its world known “pier” amusement park and its great wheel on the huge wooden dock above the beach.

From Sand to Ice

After the Ice-Skating rink was closed in 2020 due to the COVID emergency, skaters are eagerly awaiting the return of what has become a popular holiday tradition for the first time since its opening in 2007. And last year, a supply chain crisis caused a transformer to fail, making spare parts unavailable and the event cancelled.

It is obvious that weather plays a central role in creating the icy expanse, a winter destination that will appeal to those who love skating on cold, breezy surfaces.

However, more extreme forms of weather events can prevent skaters from connecting to skating-ready locations due to significant amounts of rainfall. Spend cool weeks ice skating at Santa Monica, an outdoor skating rink that pops up on the corner of Arizona Avenue and Fifth street.

Of course, this fine frosty spot isn’t naturally made, but it was delayed a bit by heavy rain just days before it opened on November 10, 2022. But the delay is coming to an end, and Santa Monica’s Ice will make its season debut on Wednesday, November 16, after a two-year hiatus.

Plus the excitement of the opening night? Free skates, along with “delicious snacks and giveaways.” Inspirational music by a DJ will liven up Blades-on-Ice and we can’t wait to test it!

If you can’t either, go check their website and beware of falls !
